What to do with
childhood performance video for your biographical archive:
Have it professionally copied (so Mom won’t have a fit about edits), and
then have it professionally edited into shorter video of raw footage with
no added music, blends, graphics, or special effects of any kind. In
other words, the edits should be basic and boring, with a little room on
each side of the performance.
The resulting video should be 5 minutes if you only have one
performance. If you have a lot of performances to choose from, the video
should be a total of fifteen to twenty minutes, containing footage of three
or four performances, one after the other. (Leave the TV show a little room
between each one; no fast cuts back and forth or blending effects, please.)
Then have the resulting VHS or DVD professionally duplicated. Keep the
master in a safe place, and have two send-out copies available upon request
at all times.
