Randi's Lemon-Lime Cooler or Margarita Cooler
This refreshing drink is perfect on a sweltering summer
day. Provided you've made the Sweet
and Sour in advance, it's also great for a crowd because it's quick to
do assembly-line style and can easily be customized alcoholic,
non-alcoholic, or lower cal to suit each party goer. (To avoid
mix-ups---especially if children are at the party--be sure to serve the
alcoholic version with a different color straw than the non-alcoholic ones.
This also makes it easy for the host and bartender to do refills and to spot
the designated drivers.)
Serves 1
Ice
Lime wedge
3/4 oz. homemade Sweet and Sour Mix, such as
Miranda's Sweet and Sour Mix for
Margaritas,
7:Up lemon-lime soda to fill the glass (you'll need about 8 oz.)
Fill a 12-oz. cooler glass with ice. Squeeze the lime wedge over the ice and
drop it in; pour the Sweet and Sour over the ice too. Add 7:up halfway to
the top of the glass; stir lightly, then top off with more 7:Up to fill the
glass. Serve with a straw.
Creative variations: 1. For a less-sweet tasting drink, use club soda
instead of 7:Up. This also reduces the calories significantly. 2. Margarita
Cooler: Add a shot of your favorite tequila before adding the 7:Up or club
soda.
