MusicBizAdvice.com's
International Readership Shows Dreams Are Universal
October
2, 2003 Los Angeles,CA--Entering its third month of publication,
MusicBizAdvice.com has attracted an unexpected audience: readers in Croatia.
"That was one thing I did not expect to see," says Randi Reed,
MusicBizAdvice.com's founder and Editor-in-Chief. "Obviously going in, you know the
Internet has a worldwide audience, so I thought maybe the UK, Germany, maybe even some
South American countries--but Croatia? Who knew? We're a website on how to succeed in the
American music industry. It just goes to show that dreams are universal. I'm very honored
by it, and very humbled."
As of September 30, MusicBizAdvice.com has been visited by readers from 32 countries,
including China, Czech Republic, Iceland, Israel, New Zealand, Romania, Russian
Federation, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, and Turkey.
"Given the political situations that have occurred--or are occurring--in some of the
places that are showing up in our stats, it's mind-boggling," continues Reed.
"Take Russia, for example. Just 15 years ago, American music was only available on
the black market there. Now we have people in Russia reading about how to break into the
American music industry."
Reed can't help wondering about potential ramifications for readers in countries with
government censorship. "Again, it's humbling. You worry about them, you wonder what
parts of our content are censored, and you realize how lucky we are to be able to read
what we want. But at the same time, if anyone is sneaking around to read our content, in
the back of your head you're also thinking, 'All right! Rock and roll rebellion is
universal.'"
MusicBizAdvice.com debuted on July 1, 2003.
