MusicBizAdvice.com Debuts July 1

Los Angeles, CA --MusicBizAdvice.com, a new monthly webzine for aspiring musicians and music industry professionals, makes its debut Tuesday, July 1.

The webzine, which debuts at 12:01 A.M. Eastern is, in the words of Editor-in-Chief Randi Reed, "a resource for people at all levels in the industry. It’s for the kid stuck in a small town who wants to break in but has no idea where to start, and it’s for the successful musician who needs tips on staying healthy on the road. We want it to be accessible for them both."

Those with an interest in working behind the scenes will find MusicBizAdvice.com helpful as well. "The great thing about our format," says Reed, is that not only do we provide how-to articles and advice for aspiring artists, we take it a step further by going behind the scenes. That might be an interview with a video director, recording engineer, or member of the road crew. Many people who want to get into the industry don’t necessarily want to be performers, and information on behind-the-scenes careers can be difficult to find. Providing that information is one of the things I’m most proud of about MusicBizAdvice.com."

With so many hungry performers out there, one might be tempted to ask if MusicBizAdvice.com would be best off concentrating on the performance end of the business. Reed offers this take: "Offering behind the scenes info benefits performers in many ways. Artists who take the time to learn something about the jobs of the people around them have a better bargaining position. It’s easier for the artist to express their needs, and because the artist understands something about the job at hand, there’s more of a mutual appreciation. That makes for smoother negotiations." Reed continues: "And—no one wants to thing about it, but even in a successful artist’s career, there comes a time to think about an alternate career path. Our webzine gives people the tools to look at a variety of career options. MusicBizAdvice.com is a great addition to anyone’s music business education."
