Backstage Spotlight™
August 2003 Sam Phillips - Page 3

In 1986 Sam Phillips was one of the first Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2001. He is one of only 9 artists in both Halls of Fame and was often quoted as saying that the greatest joy in his career was inspiring people to go for their dreams.

Sam Phillips died of respiratory failure at age 80 on July 30, 2003. His legacy in the history of rock and roll lives on.
