Products for the Road Weary
Courtesy MBADC Women's Music Industry Workshop
It's no doubt that touring is
tough on the body. Here are some of our favorite products
to renew, de-stress, and refresh you on the road. |
Aura Cacia All-Natural Body Bar "Exotic Floral" 3.5 oz
bar
There's nothing like a hot bath or shower when you're feeling road-weary, and we love this
bath soap for just such an occasion. The exotic scent of Rosebud and Patchouli is both
relaxing and sensual, and the scent is guy-friendly, so you'll both enjoy it.
We also love that this body bar is packaged in a disposable plastic zip pouch, which makes
it perfect for travelling.
Aura Cacia products are available in many health food stores, as well as online. We

Aura Cacia Aromatherapy Body Wash: "Renew" 8oz.
When you're exhausted after a long travel day and need to get psyched up for the
show or a personal appearance, this just what you need. The light, herby-citrus-y scent
will wake you up, the jojoba beads will exfoliate your rough spots, and the grapeseed,
carrot seed, and jojoba oils will soften your skin. We're wild about the packaging, too;
the skinny 8oz bottle fits in a travel bag much better than the squat packaging of other
brands. Aura Cacia Aromatherapy Body Washes are cruelty-free, use 100% pure essential
oils, and contain no synthetic fragrances or odors. The scent is even guy-friendly.

Aura Cacia Aromatherapy Body
Wash: "Calm" 8oz.
This is the one to reach for when you're stressed to the brink and you just can't take
anymore. Like its "Renew" counterpart, this body wash is cruelty-free, uses 100%
pure essential oils, and contains no synthetic fragrances or colors--great when even your
skin is stressed-out. But the real star attraction of this body wash is its combination of
lavender and chamomile oils. And we love its silky texture. But best of all, like all Aura
Cacia Body Washes it can be used as a bubble bath, too. Now you're soaking in it. (P.S.
The scent is guy-friendly.)

Aura Cacia 100% Pure Essential Oil: "Tea Tree" .5oz
A bottle of tea tree oil is one of the handiest products to have on the road. Just a drop
can zap a zit or disinfect a cut, or you can put a few drops on a damp tissue and use it
to wipe down toilet seats or other icky surfaces. You can also create an aromatherapy
shower by putting a drop or two on the shower wall, out of reach of the water. And
finally, tea tree oil is an excellent foot deoderizer and refresher -- 2-3 drops in a
footbath, and you're good to go. Aromatherapists like the way it clarifies the mind, too.
One precaution: Since the bottle is glass, we recommend wrapping it in a little bubble
wrap before packing. (Always travel with aromatherapy oils in their original
packaging to avoid problems with Security and Customs.)

 St.
Ives Invigorating Apricot Scrub
All Skin Types 1oz, 6oz, and 12 oz.
At any price, this is our favorite recent beauty find. We love the way it thoroughly
exfoliates without drying out the skin, we love that it's gentle enough for even our
Editor's Irish-English complexion, and we can't get enough of its light-but-yummy
cherry-almond scent that reminds us of maraschino. We even love that the 12-oz jar fits on
skinny medicine cabinet shelves, and that the tube is travel-friendly (put it in a ziplock
bag when traveling by air).
Those of us who tried it noticed big difference in our skin after just a few days, and it
won't clog pores...
And to be blunt, with its silky-yet-scrubby texture and guy-friendly scent, we think it'd
be really fun to smear on someone else as a body scrub (avoiding the more sensitive areas
of course). At well-under five bucks a jar, you can afford to do so on a regular basis.

Vaseline Intensive
Care
Healthy Hand Essentials Moisturizing Lotion 12 oz.
We love this stuff so much, we've switched hand lotions. We love that it has Vitamin E and
Keratin to condition skin and nails, that the Alpha Hydroxy diminishes fine lines and
wrinkles, and that the scent is very light. Our nails are indeed stronger after using it
for about a month, and our hands certainly do look better. But most of all, we love that
this fast-absorbing lotion doesn't sticky-up our keyboard. We suspect guitarists will like
it, too. And the scent? Very light and not girl-y.
